Signature gathering – 10/10-10/11 Weekend Report

The weather took a sudden, chilly turn, but the candidate and I hit a new precinct in Elgin on Saturday to continue gathering signatures for Cook County candidates Brendan Houlihan and Toni Preckwinkle, as well as for Trudy herself.

Voters are especially enthusiastic about signing for Preckwinkle, who is opposing Stroger for Cook County Board President in the primary. On Sunday, the atmosphere was definitely warmer at the Northwest Suburban Women Democrats’ Eleanor Roosevelt Tea, where Trudy made her first public appearance as a candidate, outside of a HanDI meeting. Trudy shone in her brief address. It was deeply encouraging to experience moral support and fellowship from the other women present, including office-holders, candidates and other volunteers like myself.
